This year ends in a matter of days, and the Swoosh is making sure it’s one to remember in terms of footwear heat, with a litany of shoes still set to hit retail before 2013 is out. And here’s the latest: The Nike LeBron 11 Dunkman release date is official, set for December 31. (This is the same day we were already reporting, but we now have official confirmation from Nike.)The first of a rumored two Dunkman XIs — the other goes the predominantly-volt route — the shoe sports an olive green upper, mixing darker Hyperfuse with lighter Hyperposite piecing. Silver complements on the Swoosh, while volt really pops on the inner-lining and eyelets.Tuesday’s the day, with retail set for the usual $200.Nike LeBron 11Mica Green/Sea Spray-Dark Mica Green-VoltStyle #: 616175-30031 December 2013$200

We already have a great idea of how LeBron James’s next signature model will look — we’ve seen detailed photos time and again — but how about what could have been? As seen in this Nike LeBron 12 prototype, things could have been dramatically different.Rather than the Hyperposite-overlaid upper comprised of an equitable, unchanging mesh — that being the composition of the actual LeBron 12 — the prototype features a different build altogether. Several layers of open mesh are stacked together through the toe, transitioning to a thinner, more solid construction at the midfoot and heel. The ‘Posite overlays are entirely altered, looking more like a rubberized synthetic than . . . well, Posite.Another thing worth noting: It looks like LeBron and Nike Basketball knew what kind of outsole and cushioning they wanted from day one. The Nike LeBron 12 prototype’s outsole is virtually identical to that of the GR LeBron 12.Photo via wowmeeddie.
