How does this match up to the litany of Dunkman colorways we’ve seen over the years? As we reported yesterday, the Nike LeBron 11 Watch the Throne has made its grand blogosphere debut, an eagerly awaited but not entirely expected new take on LeBron’s latest signature model.Borrowing the palette that was debuted on the LeBron 9 of the same nickname, a shoe which itself took inspiration from the eponymous Jay-Z/Kanye West album, the XI features a black upper comprised of glossy Hyperposite and a duller Hyperfuse. Gold branding offers sharp contrast, while an eye-popping multicolored print appears on the laces and inner-lining, juxtaposing the black upper and icy blue outsole. These almost certainly won’t publicly release, but stay tuned to NB all the same, just in case. In the meantime, don’t be shocked if a pair or two finds its way to eBay.Photos via Justalifestyle.
You know how some shoes get really vague, only slightly fitting (if at all) nicknames? (Because every shoe has to have a nickname, for some reason.)The Air Jordan 7 Raptor for example, which earned the paleontological moniker despite only having a color or two in common with the eponymous Toronto hoops franchise, a franchise that didn’t even exist when the shoe debuted. Or, shudder, the “Spider-man” Foamposite Pro, one of the true all-timers in the annals of terrible sobriquets. Well, the Nike LeBron 11 EXT King’s Crown is not one of those shoes.Sure, there’s no actual affiliation with King Lear, or the headgear of King Hippo, for that matter. But the shoe’s beautifully iridescent piecing, which shifts color as the viewing-angle changes and playfully pops against a black molded suede upper, actually looks like a crown. A lot. And it’s King James’s shoe.Stay tuned for release info and check out plenty of shots below, while you thank everything you believe in this didn’t get nicknamed the “C-3PO,” or some such nonsense.Nike LeBron 11 EXT QS“King’s Crown”Style #: 677693-001TBAPhotos via SA.
