Another look at the Nike LeBron X Pure Platinum, release date set for May 4th. The shoe sports a silver upper that’s so metallic as to be iridescent, flashing between pinks, greens and the like as light exposure changes.Come May 4th, expect an immediate sellout. Shoes like this don’t last long on shelves.Nike LeBron XPure Platinum/Black-Sport TurquoiseStyle #: 541100-0084 May 2013$180#gallery-1 {margin: auto;}#gallery-1 .gallery-item {float: left;margin-top: 10px;text-align: center;width: 33%;}#gallery-1 img {border: 2px solid #cfcfcf;}#gallery-1 .gallery-caption {margin-left: 0;}/* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */Photos via KOF.
LeBron James and his now-former team, the Miami Heat, fell just short of a third consecutive NBA championship, but had he ended the season victorious once more, Nike was all too prepared with a celebratory shoe or two. Here’s another look at one of them, the Nike LeBron 11 Low Championship Pack.Sporting a look inspired by the tropical tones and loud style of Miami, soft neon green, red, blue and purple are mixed together in the no-sew synthetic upper, affording the shoe a style that’ll fit in perfectly in South Beach. Black tongue, midsole and liner add simple contrast and balance, while a gold Swoosh delivers a regal, “trophy” flair, a nod to the championship that wasn’t to be.Alas, no “Championship Pack” will be hitting retailers; not with that name anyway. Stay tuned for updates, including whether some sort of release is in fact en route.Photos via MS.
LeBron James has often had the image of the “Next Michael Jordan” (although I’m sure he’d prefer the “First LeBron James”) since he first came into the public eye as a high school student, and this latest news isn’t likely to end those comparisons. It appears that the University of Kentucky, University of Miami and Ohio State University basketball programs have agreed to wear LeBron James-branded Nike gear (tOSU has had LeBron-ish logos on their uniforms already), an arrangement similar to Jordan Brand-outfitted schools like North Carolina, Marquette, Cal and Georgetown. No official word on the partnerships yet from any of the schools involved or Nike, but expect to see LeBron logos and shoes on courts in the ACC, Big 10 and SEC next season.
