As the King begins his second decade in the league, Nike commemorates his first with the poem “Rubber City Soul,” by Lemon Andersen.Andersen is the same poet who wrote “King” ten years ago, which dealt with LeBron’s then-just-beginning journey into professional basketball. Now, a decade later, “Rubber City Soul” is a tribute to wear James came from — to his formative years in Akron; to his first two championships — as well as the path he’s still taking. The spoken words are set against striking visuals recounting LeBron’s life and career to date, completing a nearly two-minute spot that’s as memorable as any in recent memory.“Rubber City Soul” reads as follows:For In a land far awayUnder a blanket of the starsOn a moonless nighta child was born in a kingdomOf basketball godsIn a county they calledthe summitnorth of the capitala rubber cityWhere the Akronites run itThis child earnedLearnedthe labors of his loveFrom watching his neighborsRise above hard workAt the local millsWatching the sweat of their browSeeing his comrades growing upTrying to conquer the hillA steep field of wheatworn from cleats and coldpounding the bottom of their solesAgainst tough Ohio wintersand unconditional vertigoBut he rosefrom the duskof Elizabeth ParkAnd her projectstill the arrival of the dawnrose from a high school phenomStraight to the prosnever forgetting howthe sun set on Lake ErieHow the rough watersof the spotlightcan ravageFlow savagely alongalways high tideKnowing the odds against himYet his will to competeRemained Hickory Street strongFor In all this love for his landHe learned to liveby the code of a warriors songand glorious were thewins stackedto the back of the wallbanners droppedfrom the top of the raftersFor all the world to seethis man child rise upagainst the oddsunder the Akronite philosophyIn his mind ever burned:Talent is givenGreatness is earned.Previous story NIKEiD LeBron 11 Gold Medal | Design ConceptNext story Nike LeBron 11 RING NIGHT | A Look at Last Night’s ShoeRelated PostsThe Year in Nike Films | 10 Best Swoosh AdsDecember 30, 2014Watch: LeBron James Talks Signature ShoesDecember 2, 2014Watch: LeBron James ‘Together’ Ad Celebrates Cleveland UnityOctober 30, 2014Watch: Sprite Imagines “LeBron James’ First Home Game”October 28, 2014FacebookSearch NikeBlog.comRecent PostsNew Nike Football Cleat Types Bring Speed to Every PositionNike LeBron 12 “Akron” PE is StunningNike Free Flyknit Hot Lava | Latest Flyknit Model Finally DropsThe Statuesque Air Jordan 9 “Militia Green”Nike Air Max NM Red/Black | Hideo’s Heat Returns!Recent PostsNew Nike Football Cleat Types Bring Speed to Every PositionNike LeBron 12 “Akron” PE is StunningNike Free Flyknit Hot Lava | Latest Flyknit Model Finally DropsThe Statuesque Air Jordan 9 “Militia Green”Nike Air Max NM Red/Black | Hideo’s Heat Returns!MIssionTo provide the most up to date news, images, and opinions on today's top sneaker company.FIND ARTICLESHomeAboutAdvertise on NBContactPrivacyTwitterFacebookRSSNikeBlog.com is not affiliated with the Nike, Inc. brand in any way, shape, or form. Young athletes will get an exclusive crack at the next ‘Bron hitting shelves, in the form of the Nike LeBron 11 Fruity Pebbles releasing Thursday, February 13. Alas, these top out at grade-school sizing.Inspired by LeBron James’s favorite cereal — unofficially; Fruity Pebbles is merely a non-Nike-furnished nickname, not evidence of an actual collaboration — the shoe sports a bright red-on-red upper, riding atop a wildly multicolored outsole, that colorfully-variegated mix lending the shoe its moniker.Grab a pair 2/13, with retail running from $50 (toddler) to $70 (pre-school) to $140 (GS).Nike LeBron 11 GSLaser Crimson/White-Pink Foil-Total OrangeStyle #: 621712-60013 February 2014$140

In “The LeBrons” episode 9, “Misunderstood,” Kid begins seeing the reactions of his family and friends to his game-losing miss.
